What We Are Not

Being clear about this matters — both for your trust and for your safety.

When someone is dealing with debt, they are often in a vulnerable position. They need to know exactly what kind of resource they are engaging with. So let us be direct.

Not a financial adviser

Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice. We do not assess your situation, recommend products, suggest repayment strategies, or tell you what to do with your money. For financial advice, you need a regulated financial adviser authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Not a counselling service

We are not trained therapists or counsellors. We do not provide therapeutic support, mental health guidance, or crisis intervention. If you are in distress, please contact a qualified mental health service. Samaritans Ireland: 116 123.

Not a debt management company

We do not negotiate with creditors, manage repayment plans, or act on your behalf in any financial matter. We have no commercial relationship with any debt management service, lender, or financial institution.

Not a legal service

Nothing here is legal advice. We describe what public services and legal frameworks exist, but we do not interpret law as it applies to your specific circumstances. For legal advice, contact a solicitor or FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centres).

An independent editorial project

Kunolu Pasopo gathers, organises, and presents published research and publicly available information about the emotional experience of debt. The goal is to make that information accessible to people who might not otherwise encounter it.

We write about what researchers have found. We describe what public services exist and how to reach them. We try to do this in language that is clear and human, rather than clinical or bureaucratic.

We are not neutral about the value of people getting help. We think it matters that people know free support exists and that shame is a known barrier to accessing it. That editorial perspective shapes how we frame things. But it does not make us advisers or counsellors. It makes us writers.

A note on sources

Where we reference research, we aim to link to or clearly identify the original source. We do not fabricate statistics or invent case studies. If something is our interpretation rather than a direct finding, we say so. If you spot an error or a claim that seems unsupported, please contact us.
